Humiliation theatre

This is a play that if the audience are not careful they are drawn into by association. The story is of an author and part time college lecturer who takes part in the latest television game show called Reunion which aims to humiliate the participants by going over their past and getting them to part take in improper acts in front of the cameras — something real time television is fast approaching. The author is John Godber who is always looking for the most up to the minute topic to make a play that will appeal to the media led generation. It seems he has done it once again if this audience was anything to go by for they became part of the television audience and shouted the responses and waved their cards when prompted by the “floor manager”.

This is something you will have to go and see and make your own mind up, but you have been warned, so do not be offended if it is worse than it reads here. It will be an interesting evening at the theatre whatever happened. You never know you may even like it and wonder what these words are all about. © BA

“Reunion” is in Hull from the 28th of November 2002 to the 8th of January, 2003 before commencing a nationwide tour.
